ODAT unofficially began a few years ago in 2018, when I decided to help one family in need for school supplies. The rush of happiness I felt and the joy I seen on the children faces made me realize in that moment that I wanted to help more. The following year came around and I reached out to the community about creating a school supply donation drive. I placed drop off boxes at certain businesses that were freely accessible to the public and promoted it all over social media. That year over 40 book bags were filled and donated to a local homeless shelter for the school year. Fast forward to February of 2021, I decided that I would take the next step and become the real deal. That is when One Day at a Time came about.
Growing up times were tough. There were times that we struggled and received help from the community for holidays and everyday living. I remember being a child and wondering how my parents were going to afford gifts to put under the tree for my siblings and I. No child deserves to wonder or feel hopeless in times like that. My heart of giving comes from my childhood and I wouldn’t change a thing from it.
One Day at a Time Corporation is a 501(C)(3) nonprofit organization located in the Baltimore area. My mission is helping less fortunate children in local communities and homeless shelters.
Drives and events happen all throughout the year.
- Gifts for Kids (Christmas Toy Drive)
- Tools for School (School Supply Drive)
- Trunk or Treat (Halloween/Costume Event)
- A Day for Bunnies ( Easter Event)
And more!
Monetary and physical donations are accepted at all times. There is no such thing as too little of a donation either! Anything and everything is appreciated. With your help of contributing, you can help make a difference. Monetary donations are accepted via https://givebutter.com/rB3rmy.
Hi everyone! My name is Halle and I am the founder/creator of One Day at a Time. I’m a mother of two, a girl and a boy who both complete me. The love that I have for helping children started way before the thought of having children. But now that I have children of my own, it makes me want to help those in need that much more. A long term goal of mine to achieve with this organization is to open a shelter for children and their families in need of help.
I personally try to help everyone. My organization specializes in children, but I personally help with the homeless as well. One day at a time, we can make a change in this world.
If you or know someone who is looking to volunteer, have questions or want to chat, best way to reach me is through email! The organization’s email is ODAT21@my.com
